Valentine's Day Red Dress
Update that basic dress in your closet with red fabric dye. Get the perfect look for a Valentine's Day dinner in no time.
- Tintex Cardinal Red fabric dye (or use Scarlet Red; mix a custom dye colour using the colour guide)
- Colour Remover (optional)
- Dress
- Kettle or microwave
- Mixing container (glass, stainless steel, plastic etc.)
- Measuring spoon
- Measuring cup
- Paper towels
- Plastic cover for work surface
- Rubber or plastic gloves
- Protect work area with plastic and wear gloves to avoid staining hands.
- If needed, use Colour Remover to lighten the colour of the dress before dyeing the dress red (or pink).
- Use the hand dyeing method or choose another dyeing method. To hand dye, boil water in a kettle and set aside for 15 minutes or until water has cooled slightly. Water can also be heated up in a microwave for 1-2 minutes in a microwave safe container.
- Mix hot water with required amount of Tintex fabric dye. Create a custom shade, using the colour guide as inspiration and mix different amounts of 2-3 colours together. Brighter or darker colours will use more dye; pastels pink will use less dye.
- Test dye colour on a piece of paper towel.
- Place dress in dye bath. Agitate and rinse well when colour is slightly darker than needed (fabric id darker while wet).
- Rince well until water runs clear, wash & dry as usual.
- Clean up work area with soap and water or bleach if needed.
Valentine's Day Paper Flower Garland
Our easy dyed paper craft uses a standard white paper garland from a craft store. Red fabric dye transforms the ready made garland to compliment to your party theme. Flowers can be used to make a bold statement for Valentine's day, Chinese new year, wedding or shower decorations. You can also display them in a glass bowl any other time of the year.
Materials:- Tintex Fabric Dye
- Paper garland
- Hot water
- Kettle or microwave
- Mixing container (glass, stainless steel, plastic etc.)
- Measuring spoon
- Measuring cup
- Paper towels
- Plastic cover for work surface
- Rubber or plastic gloves
- Spray bottle (optional)
- Funnel (optional)
- Paint brush (optional)
- Protect work area with plastic and wear gloves to avoid staining hands.
- Boil water in a kettle and set aside for 15 minutes or until water has cooled slightly. Water can also be heated up in a microwave for 1-2 minutes in a microwave safe container.
- Mix 1 cup hot water with 1-2 tablespoons of Tintex fabric dye. Create a custom shade by mixing different amounts of 2-3 colours together. Brighter or darker colours will use more dye; pastels will use less dye. Get creative and experiment with different intensities.
- Test dye colour on a piece of paper towel.
- Dye the paper using your desired technique either dipping or spraying:
- Dip the crepe paper into dye bath for a minute (or more depending on the desired colour intensity and type of paper used).
- Spray bottle: Open the flower garland so it is completely assembled . Pour the dyeing solution into a spray bottle when it has cooled enough to do so. Attach spray top and spray dyeing solution all over the opened flower garland.
- Air dry dyed paper flowers on plastic (or use a hairdryer on the cool setting over the plastic covered workspace to speed up the drying process).
- Clean up work area with soap and water or bleach if needed.
Dyed Wooden Clothespins 
The dipping & immersion dyeing technique is ideal for dyeing clothespins. Use dyed clothespins for place card holders, picture holders or attach a magnet or pin so they can hold pictures on a bulletin or magnet board.

- Tintex Fabric Dye
- Wooden clothespins
- Kettle or microwave
- Mixing container (glass, stainless steel, plastic etc.)
- Measuring spoon
- Measuring cup
- Paper towels
- Plastic cover for work surface
- Rubber or plastic gloves
- Magnets (optional)
- Pins (optional)
- Glue (optional)
Directions:
- Protect work area with plastic, wear rubber (or plastic gloves) to avoid staining hands.
- Boil water in a kettle and set aside for 15 minutes or until water has cooled slightly. Water can also be heated up in a microwave for 1-2 minutes in a microwave safe container.
- Mix 1 cup hot water with 1-2 tablespoons of Tintex fabric dye. Create a custom shade by mixing different amounts of 2-3 colours together. Brighter or darker colours will use more dye; pastels will use less dye. Get creative and experiment with different intensities.
- If needed, test colour on a paper towel.
- Dip or submerge clothespins for up to 20 minutes in dye bath.
- Check wood every 5 minutes by stirring dye bath or rotating.
- Allow clothespins to air dry.
- Attach magnet or pin to wood with glue, allow to dry (optional).
Dyed Valentine Paper Craft 
Create a one-of-a-kind Valentine's Day card when you paint on fabric dye using a brush or sponge. Use red dye in different intensities to make brighter, deeper or pink colours. Add glitter, ribbon or even wood accents and apply with glue to personalize.

- Blank white, cream or pink paper card or envelope
- Kettle or microwave
- Mixing container (glass, stainless steel, plastic etc.)
- Measuring spoon
- Measuring cup
- Paper towels
- Plastic cover for work surface
- Rubber or plastic gloves
- Paint brushes of different sizes
- Sponge (optional)
- Glitter glue (optional)
- Markers (optional)
- Ribbon (optional)
- Glue & glue gun (optional)
- Hairdryer (optional)
Directions:
- Protect work area with plastic, wear rubber (or plastic gloves) to avoid staining hands.
- Boil water in a kettle and set aside for 15 minutes or until water has cooled slightly. Water can also be heated up in a microwave for 1-2 minutes in a microwave safe container.

- Enhance card with glitter glue or markers.
