Living Coral Pantone's 2019 Colour

Pantone has announced the new Colour of the Year for 2019. Living Coral is a soft warm coral, yet is still energizing. Coral organisms are among the oldest animals on Earth.

Make Living Coral Dye

You can make a custom dye colour mixture of Living Coral. Scarlet Red and Tangerine Orange may be mixed together to make coral. If needed, you can always mix Scarlet or Cardinal Red with Brilliant Yellow to  make a custom orange. Beige may be substituted for Brilliant Yellow. When substituting a dye in the same colour family the tone or intensity of the custom dye colour may change. It is always ideal to do a dye colour test before starting a project.

Coral: Equal parts of Scarlet Red + Tangerine Orange = Coral (adjust amounts to be more red or more orange as desired).

Substitute Mixed Orange:  Scarlet Red or Cardinal Red + Brilliant Yellow = Orange

Substitute: Beige for Brilliant Yellow or Cardinal Red for Scarlet Red *adjust amounts as needed.

You can easily adjust the dye amounts used as needed to make the colour lighter or more vibrant. Use double the usual amount of dye for brighter colours. Get the most colour intensity when you use the hottest water possible for your fabric (example: use the stove top dyeing method, heat water with a kettle or use 140°F water).

"Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope." via Pantone
